What are card scored brochures?
Card scored brochures are printed on heavier card stock and professionally creased (scored) before folding. When heavy card is folded without scoring, the paper fibres break and cause ugly, jagged cracking along the spine. Our scoring process ensures a crisp, clean fold line every time, making them ideal when you need a stronger, more premium finish than standard folded paper brochures.
Popular Uses for Scored Card
Heavier card stocks offer extra durability and rigidity, making them perfect for customer-facing materials that need to stand upright or handle regular use.
Artwork and Design Setup Options
Whether you have complete print-ready files or just a basic sketch on a napkin, we provide straightforward options to get your brochures looking sharp.

Card Scored Printing Questions
What is the difference between standard folding and card scoring?
Standard folding machines buckle lightweight paper quickly into place. If you try this with card stocks (above 200gsm), the rigid paper board breaks unevenly along the fold line, showing white paper fibers and cracking your print. Scoring presses a distinct indentation or groove into the card matrix first, allowing the fibers to bend smoothly inward without fracturing.
What card weights and finishes do you recommend for menus?
For standalone table-top menus, we recommend a minimum of 300gsm or 350gsm silk card stock. This provides enough structural weight to stand up independently without bowing out. Adding a matte or gloss laminate layer over the card will give it extra wipe-clean durability against light condensation or spills.
Are these supplied flat or already folded?
To prevent bulk crush damage, rubbing, and high freight costs during transit, card scored brochures are supplied flat with the precise crease channels pre-pressed. Because they are pre-scored, they snap together into their final folded position instantly by hand with minimal effort when you need them.
How do I arrange my artwork panels for folding?
Depending on the style (like a standard half-fold or a tri-fold), the panels need to be sized slightly differently so they don't catch or bulge out when shut. For example, on a tri-fold, the inside panel that tucks inward must be 2-3mm narrower than the outer panels. We can send over a layout blueprint template to match your chosen size.
