Scored card brochures are printed on heavier card and creased before folding. Without scoring, the fibres in heavy card break along the fold and leave a jagged, cracked edge. Scoring gives a clean, premium fold.

Scored card printing questions
What is the difference between folding and card scoring?
Folding machines work well for lightweight paper. Card above about 200 GSM breaks unevenly when folded, showing white fibres and cracking the print. Scoring presses a groove into the card first so it bends smoothly.
What card weight and finish do you recommend for menus?
For stand-up table menus we recommend at least 300 or 350 GSM silk card. Adding matt or gloss lamination makes it wipe-clean and more durable.
Are they supplied flat or folded?
They’re supplied flat with the creases already pressed, which prevents crushing and reduces freight costs. They fold into shape by hand easily.
How should I set up my artwork panels?
It depends on the fold. On a tri-fold, the panel that tucks inside must be 2–3mm narrower than the outer panels. We can send a layout template for your chosen size.
